I was shocked when I saw this, in a local Dollar General store, remembering last year's shortage. Hopefully, that won't happen again. Canning goods already in stock! by pepperhead212, on Flickr Another customer saw them when I did, and she said the exact same thing I did, at almost the exact same time - "I should have gotten a cart!" And we both busted out laughing. We did go get carts, and she got more than I did - I only got 1 doz each of regular pints and 8 oz jelly jars, plus 3 doz regular lids. She said she had run out of most of the canning items, and there was nothing to pick up locally, while she still had the fruits and veggies, so a lot more than usual went into the freezer. No wide mouth in this store yet, but hopefully, they will get those, as I use them more. The original thing that I went in there to get was something that the store up the street from me, plus one other I stopped by, just to see, stopped carrying - some "Tagless Tea Bags", a box of a hundred for $1.25. Only 6 oz, but still a good buy, but the reason I like them is because the tea in it is actually an oolong, or semi-fermented tea, that I get at the Asian markets. It is my favorite tea, if I had to pick a variety, and my favorite for making iced tea, year 'round. Since I was going by this third store, on the way to HD, I stopped, just to see, and they had 6 boxes of it, and I took all of them, just in case! That's when I saw the jars...

Our local WalMart is also getting stocked on jars again but have not seen a lid for at least a month. I suspect that they are coming in but not lasting long. Dollar General has never stocked much in canning supplies but I'll have to stop by and check them out.
I drink 2 or 3 cups of tea daily and always with a big spoon of honey. Doesn't matter if there is a tag and string or not. I pull them off before putting the bag in the cup. That's just because I don't like to untangle the strings from the spoon.

I've seen quart and pint jars at Ace Hardware - no lids. Pints at WalMart - wide lids and rings with lids - no lids only.
I should check out the Dollar General store.

I am stocking up now on pint freezer bags, there were none to be found last year at harvest time. I bought 6 boxes, and will buy more each time I shop. Don't want to look too much like a hoarder if I bought a larger amount at one time.

How is everything holding up for you this year? I have been able to find pint freezer bags and the occasional canning jars, though lids are generally gone by 2 pm in the stores. Niche items can be hard to get though. I actually consider red hots to be a canning supply, as I have a pear tree (cinnamon pears anyone?) I ran out and no more available in my town of 35,000 or so, so I made a batch using cinnamon disks (Not ideal to be sure).

I've kinda taken to searching there first for literally everything before going to a store these days. www.amazon.com/Great-Surprise-Red-Cinnamon-Candy/dp/B08QXGN57Z/ref=sr_1_13?dchild=1&keywords=red+hots&qid=1632674513&sr=8-13I've had no problems with freezer or storage bags, but during the pandemic I switched from the usual Ziploc brand to the generic brand my preferred grocery store carries, and I think I've decided I like them better than Ziplocs. They seem a little thicker to me and less likely to get holes punctured in them while in the freezer. Even better, they're half the price!

Good deal, need to plan ahead next time. Thanks, didn't realize I needed a lot more until a couple of weeks before and then just thought they would turn up. It is good to know they are readily available on Amazon. ladymarmalade, @imp,
