Thanks for the birthday wishes and the warm welcome back after my missing years, my friends. Includes mentions in other threads. Played lots of guitar and bass in public these years. Gardens. Then, the pandemic hit... I've been holed up for 18 months with our 90-year-old Mom. Here she is on my birthday yesterday in front of my Spike. It is 9' 3" now. Look at the new baby growing near the ground where rodents did a little girdling. I think Spike's first year was 2008 or 2009. It was so small back then. Great birthday. We woke up! And I saw the Full Harvest Moon last night. Plugged in and practiced guitar late last night. 🎸🎶

stratcat , your mom is cute as a button, keep taking good care of her! Is your Spike a palm tree? I can't believe you can overwinter it outdoors in Michigan, quite an accomplishment! Do you cover the base heavily before winter?

Do you cover the base heavily before winter? Hi, september. Thanks. I don't know what it is exactly. Sold as a "Spike." I dig it up each Fall into a pickle pail. Had been storing it in Mom's basement. Last year was getting to be too much. Stored it in my house over last winter leaning at a big angle. Lost lots of foliage. Had to hacksaw it out out of the pail this Spring. It really grew this year. I strained something getting it out of the ground and into the house last year. Unsure of its future...

Thanks. You're not late. I'm still celebrating. 🥳 The bees keep making crosses since I made my cross 8 years ago. Pretty crazy. Embarrassment of riches, for sure.
