Thanks! Today is a special day for me as I am also a veteran! As you can see my mother dressed me in pink, frills, lace etc but bought me a front end loader cause she knew my heart belonged in the dirt. And for me it was an Honor and privilege to serve my Country.

Happy Birthday, Spike! I can't get over how much that photo of you looks like Sandy, a friend of mine from high school. Lost touch with her years ago, but we used to be best buddies for a while.

Hey ol Timey lady, what did ja do fer your birf day spike , A dear friend also said she hoped I had a good birthday and I just sent her this e-mail . . .
--------------------------------
I am officially an old person. Got my medicare card and everything. Thank you for the birthday wishes . We drove down to Mansfield to spend some time with Daniel. Went to Olive Garden for dinner. Since we are all Veterans, we get a free meal AND because it was my birthday, I got a free dessert. WOO. Well they mucked up the bill but did straighten it out. Head out to the car and it is pouring down rain. No biggie except the windshield wipers refuse to turn on. I am hanging my arm out the window, trying to drive AND use the squeegee so I can see. Drive next door to the Pep Boys. We are thinking maybe (fingers crossed) it is just a bad fuse. Well Pep Boys want to run tests $$$$ and said they didn't have any fuses >,< FINE. There was a Mall with a repair shop that Pep Boys sent us to. The rain had let up enough that I could use the squeegee and get us to the place they told us to go that was a completely empty, out of business building with a Sears repair sign on it. Jerk heads. So here we are sitting in the mall parking lot. Over yonder there is an Autozone! Pete starts walking, a nice couple pick him up, take him to Autozone and bring him back. WRONG fuse thingie. Round 2, the couple waited and took him back for another fuse and bring him back. Nope not a fuse. We thank the nice couple and they flee. Pete and I are snapping at each other and Daniel is trying to find a way to be adopted out. Heard him muttering something about old people. My baby but still a mini jerk head. Our roadside assistance can't find anyone to come tow us. We have to go out of their network and pay for it our self. Qua? But they will pay for us to get an Uber. Waited over an hour to find all that out. Almost kissed the Uber guy when he showed up. Get to Daniel's and run off with his car. Pete and I are in hysterical giggles cause we don't know how anything works. MANY calls to Daniel, from his parking spot, to figure out how to make it go! Where is this? WHOA found the windshield washer? Where is that? AARRGH how do you close the sunroof!!! Promised not to hurt his car. Little turd said he was putting his phone on ignore. I was in labor for days for him! (not really but geez) Finally made it home and was greeted by the pups who really DESPERATELY wanted out to potty. Pete finally calls USAA and asks okay where did you guys take our car. They don't know because we went out of network and paid for it ourselves! Ya gotta be shitting me! Pete, I am sure, is fearing for his life at this point, as I am not sure if I want to kill something or giggle. He brought me a bowl of chocolate marshmallow ice cream and life is suddenly all good again. We will send a search party out for our car but for now I have ice cream and life is good.
OH and another thing . . . The rotten child kindly allows us to use his car to get home, but chuckles. It is out of gas! Plenty to get us to a gas station. We stop to get gas, but Pete has to pay up front. Gets $15. worth of gas and hopes that the car will hold that much! ha ha ha ha ha ha gasp ha ha ha ha ha ha wheeze ha ha ha ha ha ha ha snort haha chuckle. He gets in the car and says he is old. Only got 5 gallons of gas!
----------------------------------
Me again Now Mansfield is about an hour and 45 minutes away from us, so many hours on the road. But Friday we found our car was at a dealership! Holy Mother of God we can't afford dealership prices but they are so backed up they can't even look at the car for 3 weeks. So back to Mansfield with a bottle of RainX and a rag. Found the car, got the keys, gave boy child back his car with a full tank of gas, cause we are parents and drove back home, praying it didn't rain. Took the car to our mechanic, left the car/keys and came home.
So basically a pretty typical day/days for us! LOL don't ask if you don't want the long version

spike , Sounds like one of my typical days! LAUGHING!!!!!! The stories I could tell you! Your squeegee story reminds me of a trip from Amarillo trying to get home in a 59 Volkswagen Bug, back when I was about 13 years old. I wouldn’t have one of those things if they gave it to me. I know, I know there’s a huge amount of people that like them, I just ain’t one of em. Anyways, one summer we went off to Amarillo in that thing and the accelerator cable broke, so we had to tie a string and run it along side the car, into the window and tie it off to the radio knob. Works ok till you get ready to stop. Motor revving like a freight train and you’re sitting still. Don’t get me started about having to start the damn the thing. Starter didn’t work, so I’d have to push it off, jump on the side board and climb in. Oh yes, this is true, I couldn’t make up a story this good. Along the way, we went through a gully washer. Oh yes, you guessed it, no wipers. Most intelligent people would have just pulled in somewhere and let the storm pass. Oh no, not us. It was decided that I’d be the squeegee operator. Only we didn’t have a squeegee. We managed to locate one, push the car off, jump in and with half my body outside the car, start squeegee while Sis drove. Made it home alive! The funny thing is, later that summer, that pos caught fire and burnt to a crisp. What you think Sis bought to replace it? Oh yes, you guessed it, Another freaking Volkswagen bug. I kid you not! That’s a true story!

OMG CUT ME SOME SLACK! The bro is now checking out the Buick. Check engine light didn't just come on, it is flashing like mad with a bonging to go with it. sigh. Gonna enclose my Tahoe in a protective covering and hug it

spike , you seem to attract bad luck like Joe Btfsplk in the Lil Abner cartoon strips (anyone old enough to remember them?) the little guy with the perpetual rain cloud over his head that followed him everywhere. And on your birthday, yet!
Good thing you have sense of humour!

You definitely have the vehicle curse going on, spike! Hopefully whatever caused the Buick's check engine light will be the end of your bad luck for a long time!
