There entire estate has been raked. All the shrubs, bushes and trees have been pruned The in ground garden that was tilled last fall has been raked level and the proper amount, according to the soil test has been applied. Potatoes have been planted. Asparagus beds have been cleared and several bunches of asparagus have been on the menu. Lettuce and spinach has been planted in the raised bed gardens. Raised bed gardens have been topped off with new soilless mix and sprinkled with 10-10-10 fertilizer. Rhubarb is going great guns. Apple, pear and apricots are all blooming. Every tomato plant in the basement is thriving...need to start a week or two later next year to combat legginess.
Now the problem: Before anything can be planted outside the weather needs to cooperate. Down to low thirties this coming weekend along with cold rains. No planting until the normal time of the first week of May. The wind needs to abate so the newspaper/straw mulching program can be put down.
I am ready to get going.

Wow, Paul! You need to take a break with a book and a hot toddy while you wait for the weather to warm up! That's a lot of work. We have a cold cloudy snap here as well.

Well, they said chance of snow flurries or rain today and tomorrow! But our atmosphere is so dry that it never seems to reach the ground. They say a low of 28F tonight and 25F tomorrow night, but it feels so cold I'll bet it get lower tonight. I decided to not take a chance on my greenhouse heater and hauled all seven trays back in the house under lights until Saturday. I'm glad I didn't finish separating and potting up some of the varieties or I would have run out of room in the house.
