This is an excellent article. This article validates that I am correct in advising people not to use mulch for squash and pumpkins, unless the grower lives in an area where these bugs do not attack crops. The article also states that fall digging or tilling is important to long-term control of these bugs because it disrupts their habitat, which can kill them. Burning all garden debris from curcubits in fall is important to long-term control. The article lists which types of squash and pumpkins are preferred by these insects, and likely to attract the little demons to your gardens. If you plant your curcubits later than normal for your area, it could be helpful in preventing infestation.
