Nearing the end of my tomatoes. I had a couple tomato sandwiches with cottage cheese and applesauce. Tomatoes are thinly sliced this time of year.

Today it was vegetable frittata, whole wheat toast with the usual cottage cheese and applesauce. It hit the spot!

Ciao all-
We had a big breakfast of baked blueberry French toast, ham, and baked grapefruit, so we really didn't have a lunch. Duane made baked brie topped with my apricot jam, jalapeno bacon-wrapped poppers, and crostini for NFL football watching. We also pulled out one of my jars of pickled garlic.

winter storms here, so a nice day for soup & sandwiches. We warmed up the homemade chicken noodle soup I made the other day, and had turkey and roast beef sandwiches. Kettle cooked potato chips on the side

Just had a bowl of oatmeal with skim milk, brown sugar and raisins. On the side, I had two warmed cornmeal muffins with peanut butter. Stick to my ribs...

My arugula "bushes" are now a year old - about 4 1/2' tall. They cycle between putting on green growth and producing flowers (seed). During the summer months, the leaves are so acrid that it takes days for that memory to fade. But during the (relatively) cool months, Lawd - they's good.
Yesterday, I made a baked polenta w/ricotta & diced hot peppers with layers of steamed arugula, sauteed onions and garlic marbled throughout, and topped w/ a little cheese. Nummmy.
Today - adding to that deliciousness, I made a pot of beans with extras from my seed stash: anazasi (red speckled), dragon tongue (tan), rattlesnake (brown), blue lake pole (white), X-mas limas (speckled), and baby limas (white). These - complimented with plenty of onion, garlic, dried peppers, fresh cylantro and tomato - brought new dimension poured on top of left over polenta.
There just ain't no store bought comparison to home grown beans & greens.

Sort of a donut shaped cake with a filling of some sort. Blueberry, strawbery, pecan praline, cream cheese, and so on. Mardi Gras is the only time of the year you can get them. Usually have a baby inside. If you get a piece of cake with the baby, you have to buy the next cake! There is a story behind it, but I can't remember all of it. Google it-it's really interesting!

Both from my garden; I had fried Long Thai Green Eggplant and a nuked Yukon Gold potato. Excellent! Along with some scrambled eggs, I had cottage cheese w/applesauce on the side.

Just had one of the last tomato sandwiches of the season, number 52. The tomato is one of my F2s. My tomato plants quit producing early this year with the cooler summer we had. After I seeded the tomato, the sandwich is pretty thin. It was tasty! Of course, I had cottage cheese and applesauce on the side. In 2013, I ate the last tomato sandwich on December 31st and it was number 114.

That's a right pretty photo of your sandwich. I had my last tomato sandwich today, an overripened (in the house) "Rose". That's it for the next 9 months!

Tomato sandwich #91 of 2O15. A couple types I'm developing. I may be able to cobble together another one or three sandwiches. Slim Pickens, indeed!
