The one I'm growing is an F1 from a seed company in Taiwan that has been distributed by a local trader. This variety is grown commercially here. Another variation has a green calyx but I'm not sure if its still considered as pingtung.

That looks like the pingtung I grew, but actually, many do. In fact, I have one this season that looks sort of like it: The pingtung sometimes looked lighter in color, but not always, plus some of the EP were very long and twisted. This made wonder if the seeds I got were not totally true-bred. They did OK, but the heat sort of did them in.
