www.durgan.org/URL/?FBQWE 11 September 2010 Russian Blue Potatoes. Ten plants were grown and the average weight was 3.2 lbs per plant. The smallest yield was 2 lbs and the largest 5 pounds per plant. From previous years three pounds per plant is about normal for a good yield. I consider anything above 2 lbs per plant to be acceptable. The potatoes keep well. When boiled or baked the purple color remains. The texture is dense, and after accepting the color, the Russian Blue is a fine table potato. There was some damage from a bug, which I think is a squash bug.

I wonder if the color of purple smashed taters would help with my kids eating them...LOL!

I wonder if the color of purple smashed taters would help with my kids eating them...LOL! Why not try a few? Though a purple fry might fly better. Fakey FriesPotato(s) cut long ways into wedges wash & tossed with oil (& cooked on oiled pan) 4 part bread crumbs 1/2 part grated parmesian cheese salt & pepper to taste Roll washed & oiled potato wedges in bread crumbs, lay out not touching on oiled sheet pan. Bake in 350° F oven 30 + or - minutes till toasty brown. Works with any color potato.
