I just love the flavor of the wild Blackberries, but as DLD stated...they are a viscous weed around here and pop up every where. I much prefer the thorn less tame Blackberries, they even have a sweeter flavor than the wild ones and no getting stabbed either.

Not only in the south do we worry about the thorns, but the copper-head snake likes to make a home right at the base of the vicious weed.

The ticks, chiggers and snakes are about the only reason that I don't live in the south anymore...god, I hated those things!

As at least some posters will know I hate to buy anything providence delivers. For me when I have had the space any feral cane fruit will do *if* it gets policed into good order. Rasberrys have been the usual suspect, but marshalled into a narrow bed and tied up onto a wire they've always fed me and mine pretty well.
This is one of the few plants a roto tiller is a good thing for.

Properly trellised and pruned they will give an abundance of fruit without taking over your yard.

Love the taste of wild blackberries. I planted one in the back yard. Now I was offered some tame ones and of course I could not resist getting a start. Not sure if I should plant in same spot or not. Does anyone know how this would work.

How long ago did you plant one wild blackberry in your yard? Cuz I planted one last year, and now I have 5...
I planted beside an established raspberry patch. I'm hoping that the raspberries can hold their own against the blackberry invasion. I'm sure they can, they did well cohabitating at our last house. So yeah, plant the domestic blackberries and Enjoy!
