I was thumbing around my Baker Creek catalog. I thought about trying some Radicchio & Chickory. I have never grown it.
Anybody have any thoughts?

sounds interesting, It's suppose to be easy to grow, let us know how it does.

I plant it in early July here in CT zone 5a, which gives it plenty of time to head up before cold sets it. Fall crops do much better, they mature and hold well into very cold winter weather. spring planted radicchio bolts just about the time it gets good. get a refined seed variety or you will end up with a high percentage looking more like escarole than the nice heads you see here: www.johnnyseeds.com/c-538-round-chioggia-type.aspx

Green, cool weather crops like greens used in salads work better planted right close to as soon as soil can be worked at the dawn of spring, or growing into autumnal cool.
I'd also like to encourage you amend your profile with some kinda general geographical marker. (oh like a growing zone or state)
