Is it doable to plant cucumbers with corn like you do beans... cukes can climb, right?

Yes it is. Gotta give the corn enough space so both can get some sun.
Huge blocks of corn makes for forgotten-missed cukes, good if you want more cuke seed bad if your wanting cuke salad...

I don't want to offend anyone but I have very strong feelings about the 3 sisters. It was done with fall harvested crops so that no one would have to walk into it through the growing season. The corn was dried, the beans were dried and the squash was winter squash. Because you can't walk into the squash vines easily or harvest the corn without damaging beans or harvest the beans every other day without stepping on a squash vine. So where you plant vining crops needs to be predetermined to be accessible to harvest without damaging the vines.

I tried it a few times with corns that were not really appropriate, but now I have quantity of some Heirloom Iroquois White Flour which apparently was grown in this manner, and I have selected for 3 years to eliminate lodging (which worked) so I am going to try it again. Even got a few bean types that were grown by those tribes that I increased (on a trellis) so we will see. Not going to have as much time to spend at my farthest gardens and they need to be able to just do what they are going to do after a planting and a few trips through with the hoe.

DL if your growing a flour corn and a dry bean, you are painting much more in the spirit of a three-sisters planting.
it still won't keep deer out tho. Now if you like a little venison with your hominy and baked beans, all the better...

I'd also thought of doing this - but in my world - corn can take the heat - cucumbers cannot.

I planted in the three sisters manner but did it so wrong. I knew the steps, corn then beans then squash. I knew the beans would fix some nitrogen in the soil ,then the squash to shade the corn and bean roots.I had one problem, picking the beans, maybe I have a heavy hand but I seemed to be loosening the corn storks every time I picked the beans. I know now the native Americans planted shelling beans which were left to dry on the corn, I planted runner beans which needed frequent picking and they grew faster than the corn. We all make mistakes,I just make more than most.
