While the future of my tomato and pepper patches is in doubt there will be a garden never the less.Everything else including a few herbs will be planted for this year.
Pumpkins/Winter Squash: This is one of my must plant crops after tomatoes and peppers. I have several to plant this year.Atlantic Giant,Winter Luxury,New England Pie,Dickerson,Australian Butter ,Turner Faimly, Kobacha and a couple others. My sisters kids have fun watching these grow.
Green Beans: The only one I have right now is Jade. This is a fine quality green bean that grows on bush plants and takes about 60 days.
Snap Pea: Lacy Lady 2 A good semi leafless snap pea with a nice sweet flavor and is a dwarf plant which does not need a trellis.Pods are about 3 to 3 1/2 inches.
Cucumbers: County Fair
A few carrots and radishes
Watermelon: Ali baba and Congo.
Cantaloupe: Amish
Other melons are Sweet Freckles and Tiger. Maybe a couple others.
Not sure about corn. What seed I have are a few years old and are an sh2 hybrid So not sure if they are still good. Also there is the issue of preventing a cross with local fields containing Frankencorn (GMO) .
After this everything is up in the air.At least there will be a few goodies out there this year.

Well here we go just for you Richard Well we decided to do an early planting of peppers.Since some bells and all the hot peppers that went out last year where late getting to the garden we did not want to take any chances. So here is some of what we have going.Just a few seeds of each. Jalapeño Bhut Jalokia Habenero Thai Hot Thai Orange Yellow Seven Pod Aci Sivri Brown Seven Pod King Arthur Bell Un-named Bell Guajillo Zavory Large Red Cherry Hot Serrano and at my nieces request some sage.Don't know why but there it is Anyway only planted a few seeds of each. Also have one Bhut and a couple chocolate Habs held over from last year in bad need of re-potting so I will be taking care of that too.We are off and running now with peppers and sage Kevin

Since we started some peppers this week here is an update to bring you all up to speed.
An update on my seed starting issue.A friend in PA and her husband sent me enough Pro-Mix and peat pots to get a little over 200 plants started.Add to that a few more maters and plenty leaf lettuce a few herbs that I was not expecting but needed and some sweet corn that will be enough for my whole family. Also they sent rattlesnake beans. Now I have heard of them but I have never grown them. Can anyone tell me about them and their uses? Also some good advice on Celery too as I have not really grown it before. I will have plenty of maters and peppers this year so no worries.Tomato list to follow on the tomato board soon.
