There are free patterns on the internet for turning them into crocheted tote bags or floor mats. Last year, when the hurricane caused devastation in Haiti, there was a group in the U.S. asking volunteers to crochet mats for Haitian people to sleep on as they were plastic and therefore water resistant. But you have to be able to crochet, which I'm struggling with learning.

You can always recycle at the grocery store. At least at the stores in this area.

I save mine, use them for cleaning the litter box- ( suppose you could use them to clean up after your dog, if you live in the city), use them out in the garden to bring produce in, use them as garbage can liners for the small garbage cans, hubs uses them in the garage when he is working on vehicles to put oily things in, use them to hang and store oranges, apples, potatoes, onions, garlic, etc (double bag)- they might not be so pretty that way, but just hang them up behind the door in the pantry, and who cares? don't tie them, and let the produce breathe.... When I have too many greens and gift a fresh salad to my friends, into the grocery bags they go
