Hummingbirds are not real good at sharing. At times more than one will feed off of a sugar-water feeder, but, never two at the same time.
I have something else that is cream-and-tan but is not a humming bird that is feuding with the hummer over the feeder.
The little male ruby-throat is less than half the size of his combatant, so far he's holding his own though.
*Bing!* Round umpsteen.

I had to laugh when I saw this. I have been searching the forums and watching the hummers go back and forth all morning.
They are insane here every year I have several feeders but they love the one in back, they hit the feeder than roost in my Willow trees than come back and hit the feeder again. That is when they are not trying to get another hummer off the feeder. I counted at least 12 flying around here a min ago. I also had 4 on the feeder with 3 buzzing around it. It rained today first time in a forever i wonder if that is what it making them extra crazy today.

So far as I can tell, we have three separate pairs coming to our feeder. Great aerial battles. The males go after each other and try to refuse the females from feeding. Very territorial little buggers.

Thanks Penny. I tried my best to get a group shot of them but it is so hard. I am lucky to get the 3 on the feeder. I saw more at one time but only when I didn't have my camera. Or you couldn't see all the others flying around in the background. They are hard to take pics of. Normally when I do I sit out there and take 50 - 100 pics and come out with 10 -20 good ones if that. They are either blurry or by the time the camera actually takes the pic they are out of sight. Crazy little bastards they are. But I love them so it is all good.
