That was my pet name for my late daughter, because she was so thin and fast( one of the fastest high schoolers in the 400 and 800 meter runs).

I have lots of those around my house-mostly with no tails, due to the cat chasing them!

WE have tons of them around it is amazing how many more young ones I see all the time. Some are pretty big now almost snake size. I saw on the other day run along a window sill and disappear. I wanted to talk to it so I lifted up the hose sprayer that was on the sill, "where did he go?" it was inside the nozzle sitting there. Good thing I wasn't going out to water my dwarfs up there it might have clogged up the whole works.

I feel bad but I found one in my compost pile this spring when I was dishing it out. They are fast as you know, I saw something I thought it was a snake. After several attempts to cut the "snake" in half. I finally hit it. That is when I saw the snake had legs??? I captured it and returned it to the garden where there was another huge one hanging out. Sorry buddy. It will be fine though.

Why would you cut a snake in half? Snakes are good.

Accidently killed one of these beautiful creatures this morning. Thought it was the copperhead that had been hanging around. It caught me off guard.

Why would you cut a snake in half? Snakes are good. Copperheads and rattle snakes are not good

No and yes they eat rodents and you tried to cut a snake in half which turned out to be a skink. I understand there are venomous reptiles and we need to stay away from them. Ecosystems that have over killed snakes and coyotes have become overrun with rodents which do a lot of damage to gardens. I like snakes have owned snakes many of them. I just think killing a useful addition to an ecosystem unnecessary, but hey that's just me. just my opinion also

As you said they are poisonous. If if comes between me and my family and something like that I do WHAT NATURE does and do my part to protect my survival JUST LIKE NATURE does. I am very much one with nature down to the microbial level. I made a mistake and got a skink. I felt terrible, and I caught it and released it into my garden with some of it's buddy's with my apologies, no shit, I told it I was sorry. If it was it a wild place and a true snake I would have moved on but on my property I will not. It has been done this way for thousands of years, maybe you missed that. Happy gardening to you. Dono

Dono I said venomous big difference. What has been done for 1000 years killing snakes on your property. Sorry I don't get that. I think snakes serve a useful purpose, silly me, I also think if you ignore them they ignore you. Yes if I think my family is in danger from a venomous snake I would remove it, if that meant killing it I would. I'm just saying why strike before you know what you are striking. Very simple in my opinion.
