Here's a nice shot of the Hellstrip taken from the street on 29 July. The Monarda fistulosa is in bloom on the right and the Spike is huge! From 23 August-the Marigolds have really filled in as have the red Salvia.

Here are the Cupplants in the back yard in my old garden spot on 23 July. They are prairie plants with deep roots. Their leaves form a cup around the square stems to catch water for the birds, butterflies and bees to drink. As Cupplants are in the Sunflower family, the birds enjoy eating the small seeds at the end of the season. They reach around 6 to 7 feet tall in my yard.

Back out front, here's a pic from today. The blue flowers in the center are Sea Holly (Eryngium).

I do love the Grandpa Ott's morning glories. I have some seed, maybe I will grow some up my sunflowers next year. ;D

Here are some pics from yesterday. Hosta near my back step that didn't get watered. I'm surprised it flowered at all. Back out front, here are Cherry Brandy I grew from saved seed and they turned out interesting. They're not identical to the mother. The other Cherry Brandy plants have various amount of yellow like my Gloriosa Daisies. Petunias trying to take over the street.

All beautiful. This is a magnificent garden! I love those morning glories, they come up every year through selfseeding, though with the heat mine were slow to grow and bloom. They look like Grandpa Ott's.

Thanks, everyone. I think those are Grandpa Ott's morning glories that I had seed for. But, back in '96 I collected seed of a purple morning glory under a mailbox during the January thaw down the road from Mom's.

Here's a Coneflower that caught on my pocket and popped off on 5 August. I set it on an egg carton outside and added water. It still looks like this today and isn't wilting. Here's the Coneflower today. Notice the spider heading towards the green shoot!

Ooh, that's pretty. The purple cabbage really makes the other colors "pop."

Thanks. From today-a couple pics of my "interesting" Cherry Brandy I grew from saved seed. The five flowers in the center come from one plant. Here's a close-up of the bottom two flowers. The small one has primarily yellow petal tips and a dark center, while the larger one has dark petal tips and you can see a yellow circle.
