Yes, I know these are not "trees" in any real sense of the word - just tall lilies: www.hollandbulbfarms.com/itemdesc.asp?item=Orienpet-Hybrid-Lily-Mixture&cat=Fall_Lilies&ic=86120Many lilies are iffy for the southern end of 8b/into zone 9. They usually do okay the first year, but often don't come back at all, or come back weaker and die after a couple of years. But most of the catalogs selling them say the Orienpets are good for zones 3-9 or 3-10. I am still skeptical, because I know from past sad experiences that bulb catalogs are "optimistic" about the southern extent of their plants' success. Also, since Orienpets need a few years to reach their potential, growing them as annuals won't work. So I was wondering if any of you Deep South and South Texas folk have had any experience with these? If so, how did they do, and how much sun did you give them? Thanks!
