That's a very pretty area. I love the rolling hills and I am slightly jealous that you have trees other than pines. Your garden looks so healthy - I bet your harvest is rolling in now! The straw mulch makes it look neat and clean, too.

Tomato gardens look a lot cleaner when they don't get any rain to cause disease problems.
That picture dispels the myth that Kansas is flat.

Tomato gardens look a lot cleaner when they don't get any rain to cause disease problems. That picture dispels the myth that Kansas is flat. Yeah...that's true. Spring is normally dry here, and my tomatoes usually look good until late May or so. Parts of Florida look like your area, too: rolling grass-covered hills, but with sprawling Live Oaks instead of your taller, slimmer oaks. Most people never see that part of the state because they fly straight to Disney or the beaches. So they think that all of Florida is flat, too. Of course, my area actually is flat.

The FoodNow event is tonight. Farmers, Vintners and brewers from the region donate produce, meats, cheeses, bread, beer and wines. Chefs and servers from top local restaurants donate their talents and time to fix meals. This is done as a benefit each year. This year the benefit is for several local food coalitions and the Dream Factory KC. They hold the event under a historic bridge that ran from downtown into the old stockyards. Fix it up all fancy with linens and lights. Our son was a beneficiary of the Dream Factory several years ago so we were more than happy to donate our tomatoes and produce. We were paired up with Chef Martin Wood of Ya-Ya's. I met he and the owner yesterday. Incredibly nice people. Fed me lunch (I really couldn't afford the restaurant) and talked about what I was able to bring. Here's some of what I ended up donating

That looks like a nice benefit - and some really nice veggies you donated. I bet it will be a great event tonight.

Glad the FoodNow event went well KC. Kudos for your donations.
What kind of size is the Black Cherry X S.pimpinellifolium showing? I've always considered Black Cherry to be a significantly large cherry type. Crossed with a currant type, I'm curious what you've been seeing in size at F4?
Beautiful mater pics btw.

Each one is a unique line. Represents ~20% of what is at home. One of the better anthocyanin lines. A striped Delta-carotene line that is promising

WOW, some great looking maters you got going on there. I was drooling over your anthocyanin cherry above, but man that one in the last pic looks like a masterpiece. If the taste is there, then you got you a jewel. One of the prettiest maters I have ever laid eyes on. I found several segregates this year that I thought was a wow, but indeed them are a WOW. Keep up the good work.
