Well after out several different nurseries, I went back to my old favorite..Stark bros. I ordered blackberries, gooseberries, raspberries, and rhubarb. Well on my way to a produce/berry farm. This is also the first week since my surgery in December that the doc said I could go out and work (play) a little, cleaned the garden off, burned a little brush, and finished stringing some wire for my new berries. Tired but man I was glad to get outside. Hope this is the right place for this thread.

Never had a bad tree or plant from Stark Bros. At least two months before serious outdoor work for me. What is your location?

I'm in Bolivar mo. and yes it's to early for planting but I hadn't cleaned the garden off completely from last year.It just felt good being outside and doing something. I get cranky after several weeks of couch time . Like you I never had a problem with Stark bros. so decided why chance someone else

Yeah I bet, when I had broken my leg about 11 years... ago and wouldn't you know it was right before gardening season I went stir crazy bad... My cure was buying plants and wifey taking them to the garden with me right behind her on my crutches, I'd plop right down in the garden bed and plant away, come picking time I would point my crutch and wifey would pick. She's a keeper

My wife is the same way. Over the years she has fed, worked and birthed calves because I was away at work. She's helped me build fence and then fix supper. Like you I've got a keeper.

I followed your lead and ordered from Starks for the first time. In March, I'll have apple, pear, cherry, peach and black currents. Can't wait!

If you take Mr Peabodies "Way back machine to the time when it was called Organic Gardening AND Farming And Ruth Stout was making garden experts have adiga. Her mantra in OGF was: mulch, mulch, mulch, mulch.

billh, did you get thornless berries? I can not keep the blackberries plants in any kind of order at my house. They act like my hair on a humid day and go everywhere and they're so hard to prune because the thorns are killer. My plants are not in rows anymore.

I did get thornless, Chesters and triple crowns. I've had them for about 3 years and they're pretty easy to take care of. my wife and I thought about trying different types but are happy with these so orderd the same, plus heritage raspberries(thornless).
