I planted these in my community garden plot last year and they did amazingly well in my full sun desert garden during the hottest summer on record with beautiful green vines. They do take a long growing season and are slow to produce but once they get going they pumped them out and survived several light frosts before going down. I highly recommend these if you like a large creamy died lima or for eating fresh, just plant them on a tall (mine is 8ft. and they over took that) very sturdy trellis and stand back and watch them grow.

Sorry, not that I've heard of. I've grown two types of these, a very large seeded one and the smaller seeded type but both were very vigorous vines. The only bush limas I've grown were Henderson bush limas but they didn't do well for me.

Hmmm... I hope that these can be grown on a 6' fence as that's how I'm planting them... lol?

How far apart should I plant these to get a good stand?

I use tepees made from Christmas tree trunks and space 6 seeds in about a 12" circle around each base. If planted on a fence, I'd go 8" spacing.

Thanks paquebot, that's just about how far I planted them, and some have started breaking ground today...

Sorry, I've been away for a while and just getting back here. I planted my Christmas poles about 3 in. apart on both sides of a tall trellis and they did great, I'm late getting them in this year but still plan to get them in, hopefully by the weekend.
Hope your do great too, good luck with them!

They are looking great... hope I didn't just jinx myself. I planted mine on a makeshift 6ft. chain link fence kinda trellis that I threw together this year... next year I may make a more permanent one if they do alright.

They will probably do great - lima beans usually take the heat and humidity very well.

Heh, do you like climbing ladders? Otherwise you may want to just let them go down, then climb back up again and...
