I planted Blauwschokker peas in one of my Earthboxes. I planted Super Sugar Snap peas in the adjacent Earthbox. I wrote down which was which.
Buuuuttt...now I wonder if I wrote them down wrong.
The peas in what I thought were the Blauwschokker box have their first bloom buds. It looks like the blooms will be white. I thought Blauwschokker blooms were purple?
The peas that I thought were Super Sugar Snap have not bloomed yet. However, I notice the plants have a noticeable red/purple splotch where each leaf meets the stem. None of my other peas show this coloring.
I had intended to clear out the Super Sugar Snap peas' Earthbox this week. But I need more seed for the Blauwschokker peas, so I was going to keep them growing for a while. Now I am not sure which box I need to keep.
So, is the red/purple splotch diagnostic, or should I wait and see which plants produce purple pods?

Hi, Laura_in_FL. I just saw this now. Blauwschokker peas have purple flowers. Those red/purple splotches make sense. I couldn't find a picture of them, but I found one of Sugar Magnolia Purple Snap Pea (by Alan Kapuler) that I grew in 2OO8 that has purple flowers and those splotches where the leaves meet the stems. Sorry I missed this. I hope things turned out.

Thanks for the replies! The peas with the red/purple leaf splotches were the Blauwschokkers. Strat, the flowers are purple and they are fragrant, just like you said! They have a lovely rose-like scent. You do have to be pretty close to the blooms to smell it. With the purple flowers, purple pods, and fragrance, they made a lovely ornamental spot in the garden. It's easy to find the pods to pick, too. Flavor is more starchy when the peas are at full size; they are a soup pea, like you said. I learned that they can also be used as a mange touts pea if picked young enough, when the peas are still very small in the pods. However, they are not enjoying the recent intensely sunny days and very warm temperatures we've had here. They are declining fast now. The good news is that I have a lot of pods drying on the plants, so I should have plenty of seeds to share with anyone else who would like to try them. Spacecase, the white-flowered peas were indeed the Super Sugar Snaps. They are very sweet, crunchy, and juicy. We are really enjoying them and I wish I had planted more! Their only culinary downside is that they have strings, but those are easily removed. The plants are in much better shape than the Blauwschokkers, but they are starting to show some stress. In a few weeks they will probably be done. I wonder whether both of these might produce over a longer season in the fall in my climate. We tend to have at least a couple of months of mild to cool weather before the hard freezes. I intend to try.

YVW. A few years ago, sorellina mentioned Blauwschokkers were fragrant. I grew them again and they smelled nice.
