What a week its turning out to be. My wifes heifer is now officially a cow, yup had a calf last night, so far both are doing fine. I built a chicken coop last week and we outgrew it before we put a chicken in it, so anyone interested in a portable coop that holds 10 or 12 smaller breeds? Anyway decided the dogs are being evicted from their dog run and a 10x10 chicken house is going up, eminent domain? I'll put a picture or 2 up later whenever tech support (wifey) gets some time. The boys got evicted today. Meet chuck

Thanks timothyt, we sold our 240 acre farm about 8 years ago and now have 5. The plan was raise maybe a couple of steers for ourselves and slow down a bit. Hah...We have the momma cow, 2 Australian shepperds, of course a big garden, and 25 wyondott chicks. My wife ordered 12 chicks went to pick them up late on Friday afternoon and they cleaned their brooders out. Well wifey got attached and named them sooooo. We're getting ready to start some Cornish cross meat chickens in a couple more weeks. Our neighbors laugh.

Update. I got up this morning about 5:00, wifei was still in bed and I thought what a great morning for a bike ride. 5:30 finds me at the bike trail in Bolivar, so away we go. 4 miles later I here a noise, that can't be thunder ole honest Tom the weather man said no rain till this evening...wrong there's a huge black cloud rolling my way so away I go, pedding my arse off trying to outrun the rain, I made it yippeee I won. Now you may be wondering what does this have to do with the funny farm? On the way home the rain hit with the rain came gigh winds, really high winds. My cornish cross meat chickins were housed in a 10x10 dog kennel complete with big blue tarps (AKA parachutes in really high winds). Anyway the meat chickens are happy they have about a 1/2 acre to free range on now. The laying hens are not happy because they want to be with thier cousins the meaty's, and the 2 dogs are really mad, they were really evicted today, dog houses, food, water, and pups are now in the pasture with daisy the cow and herkimer the the used to be bull calf If the sun comes out after church I'll take pictures and get tech support to post.

I shouldn't say the cow pups are mad, they're just upset because their routine has been turned upside down. Both are ausies aka cow pups. Festus is full size and was my stock dog on the farm, he pulled a bull off of me once and kept several ornery momma cows away while I was checking the calves. Rowdy is a mini and is used for comic relief. Both think the chickens are invaders. And yes I arrived just in time to witness the epic flight.
