I've been reanimating my whiskey 1/2 barrel to grow ground cherries in. First time grower. I'm going to stake them up. Can I fit three in there?
Thanks.

I would think 3 would fit, they will not be any room left at all though, your production might be the same if you plant 2

Got to go along with Spacecase's thoughts that 3 might be a bit much. And most likely I would only go for 1 or 2! My Aunt Molly's go 2+' high and 3'to 4' wide so me thinks 3 in a 1/2 whisky barrel would really crowd them. I'd go with just 1 if the area around barrel is not easy to find dropped fruit and hope most fall inside barrel. Just my 2.5 cents!

Thanks, TimothyT! The area around the barrel has some Lemon Balm and Mayapples growing. It won't be easy to find the dropped fruit, so one it is!

timothyt spacecase0, I grew one Aunt Molly's in the 1/2 barrel and it has put out a nice crop. Although I've eaten a few fruit, I haven't paid that much attention to how they ripen. If I pick the unripe ones, will they continue to ripen?
