I had little success with summer squash due to excessive rain. I was wondering if, since we have a late Oct frost date, I could try a late planting. Thoughts? Thanks

Go for it meandtk. I bet you have time and I am thinking of doing the same here.

You should have time. I'd love to hear how how it works out.

Agree with above--go for it--Why Not!?! You've got at least 60-70 days if you get them seeded soon and that should be enough time for summer squash. May even try some more myself here in 7a/7b!

Well, I came to lose to over heating Friday. I guess I'll try to plant them Monday.

Well, it was later than Monday, but, for the record, 40 crooked neck summer squash seeds were planted August 21. We shall see...

I'm in zone 7b and my squash is still going strong so maybe that's a good sign for you.

Sounds good enuff! I'll try to update on the progress of mine. Forecasting rain for the next few days, so maybe I'll get just enough to encourage germination. Our big problem has been that we've had so much rain that things rotted.

meandtk 2 years ago I started planting squash in straw bales to keep it off the ground. The straw loves all the rain it can get so the squash never rots.
