Well, not really truly greenhousing, but a gardener friend turned me onto something new this season. One of those 4 shelf mini-greenhouses, that comes with 3 covers. As my tomatoes are sprouting, then I'm potting them up to yogurt cups and putting them on the shelves. eventually I am putting them in 16oz cups. This way, they are getting natural sunlight, wind to strengthen the stems, they get the cold treatment (I don't use a cover unless expecting rain or near freezing temps) to nurture shorter stronger stems, and best of all, no hardening off.
A side benefit, is the peppers and ground cherries have the grow lights all to themselves except for the backup maters waiting to sprout.
So far I'm very pleased with the purchase. I'll try to post a pic tomorrow of the thing with the clear cover on it.

Here is the "greenhouse". Using this light with a floodlight gives me about 10F of warmth. Things have been fine at outside 28F and lowest we are expected this week is 27F. When freeze is expected, I also add the solid black "bloom forcing cover in addition to the clear plastic cover. If we were expected to get even colder (I would be shocked) then smallest, cheapest heater could be exchanged for the light with the vent flap in back open. The 12"X12" concrete stepping stone both gives the thing stability in wind and acts as a heat sink. The maters seem happy enough in here.

Absolutely W8! When yours is windproofed, then you'll be able to grow year-round. Think of the oxhearts you can have with snow on the ground! This setup is good for starting plants, but not for full grow-out unless you are talking a very small plant. Lol. It'll be worth the wait(in for Dave). Lol.

Thanks, Txdirtdog! Looks great. A friend has one like yours in her house with lots of sun from southerly windows. Works great for her.

Oooo... The wife just came in the door with the 3 shelf model like that... "she loves me" I will be using it indoors in front of a southern window, any suggestions on what light set-up I should use?

Just added some more lights to my set up today. That is a 3 self mini greenhouse in the pic on top of a $22 metal shelf from wally world My set up is kinda getto at the moment but things are growing well and mine is in a north facing window. Not allowed to put it in the south facing windows as I got house plants there already

I have the same 3 shelf unit. I hung single plant tube bulbs under the top two shelves. They seem to be working good. If I had to do it over. I would get the 4 shelf unit and only use 3 shelves. That would give more room for the plants to grow.
