My daughter and her husband bought a them a house right around Halloween last year, and this is what they found in on their property and was wondering if anyone can tell them what it is... Here is a closeup of the flower... any idea??

i Googled up a photo set of magnolia in bloom and it could easily be tha one.

It appears to be a Japanese Magnolia -- I have four of them along my driveway. Purple-pink flowers in early Spring, followed by leafout. Prone to fungal issues if they do not get good air circulation.

Thanks everyone, I noticed one in my neighbors yard and she was getting pictures of it so I stopped and ask her what it was, she said it was called a "lily" magnolia and it was a slow grower.
