I have 2 rows of blackberries that are about 100ft. long and I'm wanting to mulch them. I can buy mulch direct from a mill a lot cheaper than I can get it from a store but wifey thinks being fresh chipped like it is might be bad, I'm on the other side of the argument....who's right? By the way the mulch is made with oak and hickory. What do you think?

If your fresh mulch is still hot i would let it sit piled up till it cools. if it aint hot, its ready to go. In a bag or no.

Just know that caine fruit 'tip-layer'. That means when the tip touches the ground, the tip strikes roots and a new plant is a growing.
Solutions in order of importance: 1., set up a row of posts and run a single wire about chest high. Tie your caine to it with twine.
2., Set out a mulched band under your caine. With a wide row of pavers on both sides of your four foot wide mulched bed. Set the mower high enough to clear the pavers and mow often.
3., Get a planter under the growing tips. Sell, swap, or give away, the extra clones.

Bill did you ever let any of the tips grow? If you did, how did you dispose of your clones?
