so I planted some cucumbers this year, some got eaten by bugs when only an inch tall. but I had forgot some of the details of what I planted the cucumbers that I have been eating all summer are round, I thought that they were a cross of a straight 8 and a lemon cucumber as it turns out the 2 plants that I thought were cucumbers are actually cantaloupe I let 2 of them go to seed, and that is how I figured it out I have been eating them when small all summer so far and thinking they were quite odd cucumbers they are not bitter at all, and I feel great after having one, quite good actually...
anyone else try this ? is it toxic ? I just can't stop laughing about my error, should have figured this out last month...

Sounds like a seed mix-up. Cucumber and cantaloupe seeds look very much the same.
Are you picking them mature or green? Cantaloupes don't make sugars until ripening, so any cantaloupe picked green will not be sweet at all. There are also diseases and environmental conditions that can cause non-sweet cantaloupes.
If you thought you were growing round cucumbers and picked the fruit very small and green, it could resemble a round cucumber.
Have you tried leaving these on the vine to fully ripen?
But to your question, I can't imagine that they're toxic. Enjoy your mystery fruits!

pretty sure I just forgot what seeds I had planted, I keep very close track of my seeds, everything gets tagged right when the seeds are harvested, and that tag stays with them through all processing and into storage (I know not to trust my memory to keep track of them) also I have vague memories of wanting to try a local cantaloupe variety that I got seeds for, so I bet I planted it and then just forgot
I was picking them at 2 to 3 inches across and very green
I have 2 large ones on the vine now, was leaving it to go to seed, and that is how I figured out what was going on, so I will get a ripe one here sometime soon
good to know they are likely just fine to eat

I'm sorry, but that's funny! It sounds like something I would do.
