Hold my breath as long as possible so the diaphragm rhythm gets back in synch.

Ive heard drinking a large glass of water quickly will stop em. But that probably depends on how persistent they feel like being. I usually just put up with em and they go away quite soon. Every time I try nibbling on wild lobelia inflata i get hiccups. Kinda strange. It's a hot flavored medicinal plant. Lot of good uses, but not for anything I need particularly.

paulf, bluelacedredhead, reubent, Laura_in_FL Here is a great way of getting rid of them... lay down on your belly on the floor, and touch the end of your nose with both of your elbows while counting to 200 whilst wiggling your toes and squeezing your butt cheeks... hiccups cured!

I can't even remember the last time I had hiccups! It's been many years.
My husband used to get them fairly often, but I think they seem to have mostly stopped after he got the esophagus stretching procedure to help with swallowing. He used to have a terrible time keeping shredded meat from getting hung up. It was hard not feeling a slight to my cooking when he had to run to the bathroom in the middle of a meal to cough or throw up part of a meal!
I remember some cure for hiccups like holding your breath while drinking a glass of water.
