I use Styrofoam egg cartons to start lots of my seed. I fill with soilless mix and plant my seeds.
On the cover, I write the variety names with an ink pen. After closing the lid, I put a bread bag over the carton and place on a heat source: range top, water heater, heating pad in a bag, etc.

Hi. I keep the lids closed and bagged to keep moisture in. Also, some varieties require darkness for germination.
After my seeds sprout, I ease them out and pot them. Close the lid and back in the bag for the remainder of the seeds to come up.
If seeds require light to germinate, I cut the lid off and bag it with its name taped on.

I remember growin up mom used to cut them into individual lil cups and in winter she would have us go poke them on the ends of the stems on the shrubs, so it looked like we had flowers bloomin in winter, and not garden related but we would also take them lil cups and use stick glue on the inside and dump glitter in them, and she would poke them onto the twinkle lights on the Christmas tree.
