I'm going to have to say here that the wife and I think this is a tie between blueberries and watermelon! How about you?

Apple, peach, berry in that order. Mostly I likes 'em all.

paulf, any grapefruit? Or do you prefer red over white for example? I bought a few red on sale recently. I wish I had bought several more, they were excellent this year! I Love most fruit. We raise red raspberries, black raspberries, black currants and gooseberries here on our little lot and use them for jams, baking and on ice cream. Also dehydrate apple and peach slices for baking in winter. The other stuff we buy on occasion or grow in summer where possible. Tried raising small cherry trees in large containers but I've only had one cherry so far and the squirrels got it the very second it turned ripe. But I'll keep trying!

bluelacedredhead: I do like the red fruited grapefruit. We had some of those last week even way up here in the frozen north and they were excellent. I really like the ones we get on our visits to Florida this time of year...several to choose from and they all are very tasty. Alas, no Florida trip this winter so we will have to rely on the grocery store grapefruits.
We grow peaches, pears, apples, blackberries and a couple varieties of grapes on our property and pick the wild red and black raspberries that we can find almost everywhere around here. I grew up in Oregon just west of Portland and all summer long we lived on fruit; plums, pears, peaches, and especially several varieties of sweet cherries. Every empty lot had a few fruit trees we plundered. Our yard had several pears, 5 Filbert trees and 3 or 4 English Walnuts.

Paul, that's a lot of fruit and nuts in one yard! Too bad you won't be going to Florida this winter although they don't seem to be having very good weather so best to stay home perhaps?
We will both just have to be on the lookout for the grapefruit sales!

Laura_in_FL, I noticed that when I made the poll and tried to add it and a few others, but with ProBoards you can't modify the polls... and I hope they change that in the new upgrade they have coming.

I like em all, at least mostly. Even durian, it may have an awful odor but the flavor is good. Breadfruit is a bit bland, but it can be flavored with other stuff. A good sweet watermelon is wonderful, and there are some muskmelons that are food for the gods. I've had peaches that were outa this world, and blueberries that we couldn't stop eating. The flavor and sweetness can vary tremendously according to the mineral balance of the soil, and mineral levels. Get enough minerals and approach the right balance and stuff gets really good.

A good, sweet, juicy Valencia orange is my very favorite.

Right now, this week peaches are near ripe in the store, one day on the counter and they're ready to cut up. I am on my third pot of shucked out seeds. The first one is full of peach babies, what will become the feet of future peaches. Time will tell if the other two pots will also germinate.
