greenhouse...YAY!!!! The wife say being that I quit smoking I can finally build a greenhouse with the money that I have saved. Now this ain't going to be one of those great big long hoop houses, it's just going to be an 8'x8' pitched roof PVC greenhouse made with just 3/4 PVC but then again it's just going to be like a starter house as i'm not going to plant in the ground in there anyways and it will be lite enough that I can un-stake it and move it if need be. I will post a few pics later and as I go along just because I've never built anything without a kit and directions before...LOL!!!

Got a little done before having to go drive my bus... still have to make the roof a door and a window on the back yet... well that and the plastic sheeting.

Good for you! Do you have the plastic sheeting yet? If not, AM Leonard and others have remnants really cheap.

I always thought I would like a greenhouse. Been rethinking that idea. Not sure how I would use it here. Oh well, maybe next year.

Congratulations on the greenhouse, daylilydude! I'm looking forward to seeing how you like it / use it. And it is doubly awesome that now you can spend money on a healthy hobby that you love instead of on death sticks.

pepperhead212, thank you for letting me know about this. horsea, I haven't put the greenhouse where it will be going yet as I needed a power source for jig-sawing parts, but when all that's done we will move it and strap it down... not sure how yet, but will post about it when I get it done. Here is another pick of it with just a little more done...I'm excited to be getting to do this! The square looking parts on the ground in front and back are going to be the frames for the door and window just run out of fittings...lol.

Sorry bout that Laura_in_FL we must have been posting about the same time... I'm just going to be using it as like a starter house for starting seeds and such, but.... the wife says to remember how to do it as the grand-baby will have a fort at mawmaw and pawpaws house.

Getting it done slowly... we went and spent time this weekend with our grand-baby...they live like almost a 2 hour drive each way from us ! But anyhow, just have a few more pieces to finish up the roof, hang the door and window, and i'm making the clips to hang the plastic with... hopefully be done next weekend.

We got it pretty much done for now been getting some on and off rain here so the SIL and I were working in between them. Now that it's done there are a few things I would have done differently but it will work for now. I didn't glue any of the joints we screwed them all together so if I wanted to make changes later on I could without a bunch of trouble. Here is a couple of pics of the back window... I had it fold down so if I have to have it open while at work or whatever it won't accidentally close on me and heat up the greenhouse.

Yep, 12" spikes, large tent pegs, slab wood. Otherwise you will wake up one morning and find it in someone else's yard and in little bitty pieces. And your seedlings all frozen. Been there....

coppice, bluelacedredheadThank y'all for the warning, but if you notice there are green post at the corners, those are 4ft. t-post drove about 2 1/2 ft. into the wet clay and the greenhouse is attached to those. I'm thinking that when that clay dries it will be like cement...lol!

I noticed that in the one Corner. Excellent. So that's it's permanent resting place then. 👌
BTW, how is your grandbaby doing? Well, I trust. They are such a joy to have.

She is doing great thanks for asking, my daughter and her husband are a little tired these last couple of days... the driving back and forth to Memphis every Friday to have her mouth piece adjusted because of the cleft pallet and lip she was born with, let me see if I can find a pic to post.

Aw, poor little tyke. And poor Mommy and Daddy! It's enough work with a baby let alone the added stress of an adjustment like that. A pic would be lovely!

Do they they think that the mouthpiece alone will be enough correction? I agree, poor little tyke and Mommy & Daddy to keep making that long drive.
I hope they can get her palate and lip corrected soon so she can get on with the fun of being a baby without all of those icky extra doctor visits!

Laura_in_FL , no the mouth piece alone only slowly brings the pallet closer together to help when it comes to the surgery that they say (fingers crossed) will be in May. The only part that seems to be a problem for pnut is when they have to change the tape that holds it all in and brings both sides of the lip together... she raises a royal fuss when that happens... LOL! The device seems to be working like a 24/7 pacifier/binki so she doesn't fuss much with it... yet. Check your PM's

Thanks! I'm sure everyone is both looking forward to and dreading the surgery at the same time. But from what I understand, cleft repair is very successful these days.

Laura_in_FL , yes we all are, and now it is only the lip they will be working on in May... the pallet they won't be doing surgery on that till she is a year old. Oh, and by the way y'all, I had some PVC parts left over so I made a plant light... all I had to buy for this is the light, bulbs and a timer... gotta bout 20 bucks in it.

Sad to say this greenhouse was taken down this afternoon ,but Here is what's happening now: Yep that is the start of the base for one of the 6X8 Harbor Freight Greenhouse I was working on it this evening, but the skeeters were so bad out there that I had to come in or i'd have to have a blood transfusion, so needless to say i'm tickled. We are gonna wait a couple of weeks as the salesman said that the 6x8 would be going on sale in a couple of weeks, so I thought about getting the base built and leveled and the gravel floor put in now as to be ready to put this together when we get it.
