Do you use a single potting mix or do you make a mix of a few different things to start your seeds in... do you buy it in bulk?? This year I bought a 32qt. bag of Evergreen potting soil and an 8 qt. bag of Miracle-Gro potting mix and mixed it 75% evergreen potting soil to 25% Miracle-Gro mix... remember i'm cheap...

I usually buy whichever potting mix is cheapest. There were a couple big bags of Schultz and a big bag of Miracle Gro left over from last year. So the seedlings got started in the Schultz. Big mistake. The Schultz was full of big chunks of wood and rocks. At repotting time all the pots with Schultz got put back in the bag to be used in outdoor containers for flowers. All the tomato, pepper and other seedlings were planted in MG and will be next year.
I have not had good luck with seed starting mix in the past, so the cheap stuff will continue, especially if I can get MG on sale.
