Not sure where to post this so if this is wrong, feel free to move or delete or whatever
So I had not been driving my car. For many reasons that have nothing to do with this boring story, but because it sat for a long time, it turned into a wasp hotel. Wasps in the door jam stung my fingers, they rebuilt and got me again the very next day AND then built behind my gas cap. I stopped for gas and found the buggers and yep fingers stung again sigh. Now I could deal with my stupidity of not really looking before I grabbed but yesterday one of them got my pup on the snout. He had a bad reaction but thank goodness for benadryl. He is fine and the swelling is all gone BUT this means I am going to war with the wasp. They hurt my pup >,< they all must die. I am open to suggestions. Never had a wasp problem before so not real sure how to get rid of them.

Ouch! So sorry! Wasps are nasty critters, I feel sorry for you and your poor dog! When we get hornet's nests on our house or porch I use that killer spray that shoots out quite a distance from the can. Can't remember the brand right now. Wait until dark or dusk when they have all returned to the nest for the night and then soak it, very efficient. I imagine it's very toxic, so you'd have to clean the spot in your car where the spray hits -- don't need much.

^ This.
Also check and spray as needed under the wheel wells, under the trunk and hood latches, and anywhere else the little nasties could be making a nest. Wasp spray is a neurotoxin that is very effective; it knocks down wasps almost instantly. If you soak the nest while the wasps are all at home like September said, you'll wipe them out.
Definitely keep the pup away while you're spraying and while the spray is wet. Once the spray has dried, clean any surfaces you will be handling and any surfaces that the pup might be tempted to lick later. Of course the spray stinks pretty bad, so the pup will probably stay away from it on his own, but I wouldn't take any chances.

Being some-what of a mechanic, I always have a can of brake cleaner to spray them down with... just be careful around any painted areas cause it will strip/eat that paint off...

Wasps are God's critters, valuable garden help.....simply knocking the nest down at night.... Turns them docile. With nothing to defend, they stop being aggressive.
And.... Yes, I know the experience of pulling blackberry briars and getting stung, and, digging out a sapling in the garden, and then glancing at the next tree... And seeing the nest hanging in the branches....
Or... Moving something leaning against the house so I can paint... And then seeing the nest.... After having moved their home... Sadly, they couldn't seem to find the nest after I moved it...
One year, I had a nest of wasps working security next to the front door. Very disappointing when they failed to return the next year.

If it was up to me, I would rarely mess with them since they don't bother me that much. My dear departed dad used to escort wasps out of the house by putting a bit of jam on his finger and taking them to the door! But my husband is allergic to most insect bites and has severe reactions to bee type of stings, so not good to keep nests around in areas where he walks around or mows grass.
One year hornets made a nest under the black plastic cover of our grill. Needless to say, we did not use the grill that summer. Just pushed the grill, cover and all off the cement deck into the bushes on the north side until winter. There was no way to get the cover off without getting stung by a swarm of angry hornets. The year before that, they made a nest inside a now unused dog house that sits close to our main entrance door. I had to use a flashlight and reach in to spray that one night. Anyone coming or going had to walk within 3 feet of the dog house which often brought a few aggressive hornets out. You don't want to put small children or adults with allergies in danger.

I am normally all "live and let live" but the line was crossed with my poor pups nose. But he is fine and it seems as if the wasps could smell me turning into a pissed off, inbred hillbilly with cans of raid >,< They seem to have vanished and I have chilled out. So they live for now . . .
