A little back ground on this tree....it is a transplant a friend of mine gave my Daddy off her tree.....both my friend and my Daddy has died since this tree has been planted so it means alot to me...the year Daddy died it rained all the time about a week before Daddy died the tree feel over..it did not completely uproot because some of the larger brances supported its fall...with everything going on I didnt mess with it....come spring when we could get to it,it was covered with blooms......got the best plum crop ever from it. all the rain and mud had covered the hole where it had uprooted.....its ugly but has a charm of its own and I couldnt bring my self to cut it down last year as it was so alive....we will see said honey......I just went out to honeys Man cave to check his birds and the plum tree is again covered in blooms......is this normal?.....it is a wild plum but has awesome plums about the size of a golf ball or smaller....the only way I can get you a pic is to phone text it as I am a dummy and the kids or grandkids do that for me

The tiniest plum I've picked was off of a group of prostrate beach plum. Not much bigger than a dime. To Biggest were off of peaches. This whole 'prunus' family are much more routine producers than say Nut trees. Get its roots back into soil and Support it with a stake if needs be. Like any fruit tree clear out every single weed, sucker, blade of grass, drop, and old plum leaves. Put down 2-4 inches of bark mulch. You are probably gonna spray for scale insects and the borer that can easily in one year kill any prunus. Your county extension can advise. Spray untill you grow out replacements from planted stones. They make Dormant oil sprays that are aproved for organic culture that will take care of scale, apply it before bloom. The borer spray is not aproved for organic cultivation. Apply it after bloom.

I do have a 4 ft sucker from it we are really watching it.....sorry I did not give better dicription this plum is a good size tree....Daddy took 2 suckers and wound them together somehow.......he always started new trees by fencing a 6 to 8 ft area around them and putting several baby ducks around them.....he always said this keeps them watered and fertalized and no bugs......he never lost a tree....unlike me who does it like the book you would think I would listen to him...when it fell it had several large branches that stopped the fall on a 90 degree angle with all the rain and mud that year the hole sucked in and filled itself or Daddys spirit took care of it.......I dont know......I was to full of grief and things that had to be done to take care of his final wishes....but the roots are all covered except for some top ones that have hardend off and now look like they have bark on them.....however I believe the two trees he put together one has died its on the bottom and the second tree is still alive...the one whos roots are exposed as died but to cut it down will kill the other......

Don't do anything to the dead sapling. It will rot on its own.
