Ciao all- I've been away from this place way too long!! Really hoping to correct that and be more active going forward. Duane and I have moved (finally) from Toronto, Ontario to Victoria, British Columbia. We have a lovely new place (not ours, but with a backyard and a lovely little patio) on a mountain with views of trees, gorgeous sunrises and sunsets, lots of different birds. We're getting used to a much slower pace out here and a much MUCH milder climate. Those of you who enjoy a Pacific Northwest USDA Zone 8 growing situation, please please offer some advice. We got here too late to really grow much more than a few seedlings we got at the very end of spring. Tomatoes do not do well here for the most part. Those who do grow them really have to pick and choose varieties for cooler conditions or grow in greenhouses. That part is sad. I will miss the huge harvests, but I'm happy to have had that experience. Blackberries are in enormous supply and free. Everywhere. So that's pretty cool.

Welcome back, Sorellina! I've been wondering what you've been up to. Your new place sounds gorgeous. Unfortunately, I don't know the first thing about PNW gardening, so I won't be any help with that. But I'd be willing to bet that there is someone on here with some experience they can share.

Welcome back! Your new home sounds so peaceful!
I also know nothing about your growing zone, but I bet with a little research, we can all help you figure out how to have a bumper tomato harvest. I suspect it will be all about choosing the right varieties for your location.

Welcome back! I only know you by your reputation as a fantastic tomato grower, so am looking forward to your input on maters as well as what ever else floats your boat! Can't help you either with PNW gardening, but will be very interested in hearing how you adapt.
