Yes this question is stemming from another thread... what was the hottest pepper you have eaten, could you eat one hotter if you knew it could help with pain?

I do not enjoy super hot peppers but probably habanero is the hottest I have ever had. I think I will just take what the doctor prescribes for pain if I need it.

I like a touch of hot in most savory dishes.. but not really hot at all.
My most unpleasant 'hot' experience occurred when eating out. There was an innocent looking little red pepper.. It was in a really good stir fry of some sort. Dang, that little thing was unpleasantly hot, and there was no warning. Egads. Of course now I would know better, lol.

The Carolina Reaper is definitely the hottest - only chewed it for 18 sec, and all the other superhots over 30 sec. And right now, I really wish I had something hotter!

Have to define or clarify "eaten". I've made and eaten salsa with habanero peppers in it. Did eat some sort of TexMex hot ornamental one time but wasn't inclined to make it a regular habit. I grow some hot ones for friends but no way am I going to pop one in my mouth and yell: "Look out below!"

Actually eaten, at least with food, Chocolate Habanero. I do have some hot sauce with ghost pepper in it but I haven't used it much. Jalapeños and Thai Hot peppers are more common fare.

Carolina Reaper and the 7Pot Brain Strain Red. I mention both because while the Reaper is listed as a hotter pepper, when I think about the experiences with both peppers, I think the 7pot may have been the hotter of the two. The endorphine rush from the 7Pot was a new experience for me, and I didn't get that with the Reaper. However, I may have tasted a smaller bit of the Reaper, so without having them side by side, I will never know. And that Reaper was gross, I don't want to taste that one again. The 7Pot was frightfully wonderful.
If I was presented with a hotter pepper to taste, I totally would do it, but I don't plan on growing any that are hotter than the Reaper.

I always chew halves of these things, trying to get about the same amount, so that won't be a factor in how much heat I'm getting. And I don't like the flavors of any superhots that I've tried. They have some habanero flavor, but not nearly as much as milder habs. For years, when Red Savina was the hottest, it was also one of the best flavored (that was when it was OP, before they got a trademark on it, and say it's a hybrid), and many habs I'd try were definitely less flavored. The white and gold bullets, and fatalli, were some that I found that also had great flavor. Many milder ones seemed to have less flavor, and I was suspicious that they were breeding the heat, as well as the flavor out, to make them better for the general public. Then, they started getting hotter every year! Go figure!

I tried a tiny piece of a habanero once, just to say I did.
I ended up on the floor laughing for what felt like 30 minutes, although it was probably just a few minutes. That wasn't a happy laugh - it was an instinctive response to try to get more air in to ease the fire in my mouth and throat. Some people cough or get hiccups after eating a hot pepper; I laugh like a deranged hyena!
The endorphin rush was nice, but not enough to be worth the pain I experienced. I don't think the endorphin rush would have been enough to help with any real significant pain.
I've tried increasing my tolerance for heat, but I just don't enjoy hot foods past a certain point. A little spice is nice and enhances food, but when I eat something hotter than that, I don't also taste the great flavors that other people mention - all I taste is pain. So, I'm pretty sure that I am going to be a pepper wimp for life.
