A great question from brownrexx , If you grow asparagus, do you cut down the old fronds at the end of the growing season or in the Spring?

I cut down the brown fronds at the end of the growing season. Some people prefer to leave them in place for winter mulch but I found out that asparagus beetles lay eggs in the berries and that is where they overwinter so I cut down the fronds, remove them from the asparagus bed and then burn them, never compost.
After removing the fronds I apply a layer of compost to the asparagus bed.
