I have never laughed so long or hard! My hubby is the best. You have to understand that my cousin is into those garden gnomes. She has them everywhere and they just annoy the heck out of me. Hubby got me one of my own!!

Wow, Spike! You get great presents! He KNOWS what you need! I got a nice selection of warm clothes, a cookie jar filled with cookies with matching cocoa mugs, and an excellent new Minnesota Bird Id book I didn't have.

We don't do much in the "presents" department anymore. We did pick up a few goodies for each other, though, that didn't get all wrapped up.
I got a new coffee mug and a pair of fuzzy bedroom slippers. My wife got a couple of bird feeders and the feed for them that she's been wanting ever since we moved in here. (The birds are still afraid of it, but they should come around eventually.)
Mostly, we just got a few little things for the grandkids (fulfilled by Amazon!) and left it at that. Most of the rest is just get-togethers with friends, a party, or a good meal.
The perspective changed for us as we got older. Maybe 5 or 6 years ago, we finally decided it was kinda foolish to just pass around the gift cards, so we stopped. If there's something we want or need, we typically just go get it. Not exactly a "bah humbug" thing, just a change in our perspective. Still enjoy the music and the get-togethers and a few of the movies and such that get played at Christmas time.

I pretty much received a stack of gift cards this year to various places. What made me smile was that a few days ago I drove past Barnes & Noble and thought that I sure would love to receive a gift card to B&N. People give those to my kids, but I always seem to get the gift cards that are more practical. Well, I received two B&N gift cards, so it will be very fun to decide what to use them on. The big family gift this year is a Nintendo Switch, and the kids are THRILLED with it. They had no idea it was actually going to be here for them. My customers really surprised me with the tips this last month and because of that we were able to make the gift happen. We've probably lost our kids for the next two weeks though...

My kids got a Switch, too. I'm sorry to report that our kids are definitely lost for a while. It's a really cool console design, though. Very flexible. I racked up this year. I got some lapis lazuli dangle earrings, shirts, books (sci-fi and fantasy, not garden-related), and a canner that I can use on my glass top stove.

Some new plates etc, 3 bbqu3 rubs, a couple more travel mugs, a Walmart gift card. The thing that is iffy is one of the electric oil less fryers for French fries etc. No idea what I'll do with that other than the Closet of Misfit Gifts.
