After the first for indoors. Whenever it is warm enough not to freeze fingers and toes outdoors. The lights are unplugged after the first.

We only have one outdoor decoration and that is an artificial tree on the front porch. We keep that lighted until New Year's Eve and then it gets put away on New Year's Day or the day after.
I start taking down decorations inside the house on the day after Christmas. When Christmas is over for me it's OVER. I have seen those decorations for almost a month and I am ready to clean up the house and put out or start using our Christmas gifts. I like to start the new year with a fresh, clean house.
I am drinking coffee out of my beautiful new mug with the original artwork of a woodpecker on it right now.

I'll be taking down and putting away our church Christmas decorations on January 6th. I'm not sure if I'll wait that long to do the decorations here at home as well. Usually I just get it all done at the same time. I go take care of the church in the morning, and then continue at home in the afternoon.
But we have such a tiny home that after three weeks of having the decorations up, I'm wishing they could go away because every bit of space is precious and it feels cluttered in here.
I don't think I'll do it before Monday, but it might happen ON Monday.

I was surprised this morning. 8 blocks to the garden center where I was to load up the leftover white pines. Brought home 7 of them. Could have got that many balsams off the curbside between here and there. Apparently some figure that since Christmas is past after the 25th, so goes with the tree.

Martin The truth is more important than the facts. I have an old high school friend who has the tree down and everything put away by noon on Christmas Day. His rationale is that they celebrate on Christmas Eve, so their celebrations are over, AND he has the day off on the 25th. Might as well take everything down and get things back to normal.

All indoor decorations came down yesterday, and some outside. Loaded up the motorhome to go south for a month or six weeks. Did not get far today, 200 miles, had 45 miles of freezing rain. Will finish up the outside when I get home, might be warmer than 17 degrees.

Our only family celebration including dinner and gift opening was Christmas Eve as well. I mentioned to my husband on Christmas morning that we might as well get the tree down, and when I went downstairs that afternoon he had actually done it! Which was a very good thing, because it takes up the space for my exercise equipment which I will need to offset the effects of all the chocolate goodies people kept bringing us!

Usually everything comes down on the first or second. I like the sparkly decorations and enjoy having them up on New Year's Eve. But I also want to have them down and stored away before the kids are back in school, so we can get back to a normal schedule.
