No.
Every once in a while if I have a bunch of frozen fruit on hand I'll make up some kind of fruit smoothie for the kids. So maybe twice a year or so? Personally though, I don't care for them. I'd much rather eat whole fresh fruits and vegetables.

I don't care for the green smoothies, I would rather eat veggies.
I have never made any fruit smoothies but I have purchased them and they tasted really good. However I am always watching calories and I think that I would probably consume more calories in a fruit smoothie than if I ate a piece of fruit mainly because a cup of pureed fruit contains a lot more than just one piece of fruit.

Yes! I am not really a calorie watcher, but I am mindful of trying to not consume too many on a regular basis. I try very hard to not drink my calories, because there are always more calories there than you think, and drinking calories is nowhere near as satisfying as eating them.

drinking calories is nowhere near as satisfying as eating them. I would guess that you get more fiber from eating the actual fruit too wouldn't you? I am not sure about that but I would think that the blender action would chop the fiber into little tiny pieces which would not be as beneficial as eating the whole fruit.

I do not make them. My husband won't drink them and in all honesty I am not sure how to make them. I am never around places that offer smoothies. I am not anti smoothie they are just not any where I go and I don't own a blender. I had a mango smoothie once I would kill for to have again.

I still have teeth. I agree that it is easier to drink calories than eat them.

About 10 years ago, I used to Juice. I was never hungry and to be honest, I felt much better. My problem back then is there were no places close by to get good produce and I was to drive 2 hours every Saturday to shop. I have good produce close by now, but I don't Juice now.
It takes a lot of produce to stick with it. I was drinking 5 pounds of carrots every week. I used kale, spinach, apples, beets, etc.
Another reason I quit was because my Dr. At the time, told me it wasn't healthy. I should have listened to my body and not him.
Smoothies are easy and good. I still drink a smoothie ever now and then. We have a vitamix, but you don't need one, you can get by with a cheap blender from Walmart.

I love frozen smoothies in the summer! Don't really make many when it's cold. And I've never been crazy for adding greens to them;I prefer them in salads or cooked. And I'll take my avocados in guac! Sometimes I put leftover coconut milk in them, and I often put yogurt in them. And a flavor that goes great with melons - HABANERO!
Something that I frequently put in smoothies is chia seeds. I blend the rest of the ingredients totally smooth, turn it off, then add the seeds. Then I turn the VM on, on the lowest speed, just long enough to suck the seeds under, then turn it off. Then I go do something else for 5 or 10 minutes, then blend again on max, and the seeds disappear!
Something that I discovered early on when adding ice to smoothies: if I did not add enough, chunks of it would remain, as the liquid was too thin - the pieces of ice would simply bounce off of the blades, and even the high speed of that Vitamix would not grind them up. Once it gets thick enough, they can't bounce off of the blades, and it gets super smooth... and super cold! Reason I like them more in the summer.

I like smoothies, but rarely make them, they are kind of a treat like dessert. One year I froze a bunch of overflow cantelope in chunks and that worked out as a good base. They are nice in the summer when it's hot and you're not really hungry for a full meal. I had the best green smoothies in a weekend restaurant we go to in our little Mexican beach town. I don't know what all they put in it, but it is just mildly sweet and tastes healthy without being grassy. I should go watch them make it next time.

I make and consume smoothies in the summer, as they are typically made with 70% frozen items. I like to make them 'health food', so I put in nuts, seeds, greens, yogurt/kefir, alternative milk or juice - carrot juice is nice. Alot of people put protein powder in them. I freeze and seal the fruits in vacuum seal, and pop them in the micro for a short blast to soften them a tad. like pepperhead212, I have a vitamix, and the hard fruit can knock around like an ice cube. I consider them a meal. its fun to experiment with a variety of flavors. a tad of maple syrup, p nut butter, oatmeal... pepper, I love your idea about the chia!

Like Ö®≡Gö∩RΣÐ, I freeze fruits to make smoothies, mostly when they are getting over-ripe, like bananas and pineapple, or when on sale, like blackberries were lately. And while making some bread today, I thought of another thing I often put in them - flaxseed. I have a jar just for that, ground very fine (I leave a little more texture for the breads). Another thing that I often do is make a lot of one, with several fruits, then pour a bunch out before icing it up, and store it in the fridge. Then I just pour some back in the VM, add ice, and I got an almost instant smoothie, and the ice didn't melt in the fridge, diluting it.

I make very thick vitamix smoothies in the summer with frozen fruits and almond milk, and a bit of real cream. Only I call it 'ice cream'. Kidding aside, I've made a few good 'green' smoothies, but not many. Too much bother and mess for me. I'd rather eat the fruits and veggies whole and skip the middle work.

I make banana based smoothies , plus other fruits, in the summer. It's cool and refreshing when it gets hot and especially when I lose my appetite because of the heat. I am not a fan of most green smoothies, so pass on them.
