I can walk to a "catalog". A Jung's Garden Center about 8 blocks away. If it's in the catalog it's in the store. Same price but no shipping charges.

I'll have you know that I literally just google mapped the location to see if there was anyway I could justify a little detour on our way to/from Virginia Beach in June. Sadly, it's a weee bit far out of the way. That is so funny. Yes, too far. I have never been to Virginia beach because it is too far away. I guess that you will have to be content with either their online catalog or my photos. Sorry. I wish everyone could visit this place. It really is quite wonderful. I just drove by the store yesterday and the sign said "2018 catalogs available" so if you are interested, you can request one here www.rohrerseeds.com/locationScroll down to see photos of the entire store too. Why, oh why did you post a link???!!! You are a major bad enabler!! I'll be a few hours......

Why, oh why did you post a link???!!! You are a major bad enabler I know. Sorry but I just love shopping there. Another good thing about Rohrer Seeds is that they not only sell seeds under their own name but they also distribute seeds from Baker Creek, Botanical Interest, Burpee, High Mowing, Johnny's Select Seeds, Lake Valley, Livingston, Renee's Gardens, Seeds of Italy and Seed Savers Exchange. It's one stop shopping for me with no postage.

Well I don't normally shop for seeds this early in the year but coming to this forum has gotten me motivated so last night I went through my seed stash and made a list.
Today I went to Rorher's Seeds and spent over an hour shopping and just looking at gardening stuff. I got a bunch of new seeds including a lettuce I have never seen before called Slobolt that is a leaf lettuce that is supposed to be able to take the summer heat without bolting and never taste bitter.
I also got all new pea seeds for English peas, sugar peas and sugar snap peas and some inoculant too so now I am looking forward to planting some pea seeds although I know that that will not happen for another 2 months.
There was a man shopping and he had his daughter on some Facetime phone app on speaker and they were discussing what seeds to buy. She was checking their seed stash at home and he was showing her the seeds at Rohrer's. He had never been there before and was telling her how thrilled he was by the selection. It was cute.

You should like slobolt, brownrexx I tried it long ago, and it lasted as long as black seeded simpson w/o bolting (well into July a couple of times), but I liked the flavor better. Alas, I have yet to find any that made it through the summer, though I have kept trying!

Seed Shopping! I doubt if the stores even have seeds out here yet, but then again I have not looked. However, there are two Seed Swaps coming up in this area the first week of February so I'll be shopping then Thanks for sharing the story about the Facetime Seed Shopping, that would have been cute. bluelacedredhead, when you find something like that, you attach it to your posting by dropping down the gear icon in the upper right of the reply window and selecting "link to post" and copying that highlighted text and then pasting it into your posting. That way I can just click on it and be taken to the same posting that you are referring to. I will do a search for it and take a look at Horsea's picture. Thanks. I am looking forward to some home grown lettuce.

brownrexx , I found the picture and it really looks pretty. The description on the package said "never bitter" and I like that too because sometimes I find leaf lettuce, especially the Black Seeded Simpson, to be bitter tasting.
