my internet friend, Harry is excited about growing this bean. He was telling me all about it. Apparently, it's a bean from Peru that pops like pop corn that has been tied up with legal issues since 2002. Two guys crossed it with a local variety and got a patent on and the farmers in Peru could not even export it to the us. They challenged it in court and won and now its available on the web .He found a site for Chili Smith Family Foods. He ordered a pound! He's 90 and is still growing though like me not as much. chilismith.com/products/nuna-the-popping-beanIts like a cool bean.

Neat! I had never heard of popping beans before. Very cool! I was kind of hoping the link would have a photo of the beans after popping, but they don't.

I grew them 5 or 6 years ago, two years in a row. Very low production both times so I gave up. Not even certain where the seed is now if I wanted to try again.

Mine were bush, actual name unknown, Never got enough to try popping any. Swapped a few and nothing left to enjoy. Second year should have been better as twice as many planted. Didn't get any more than the first year.
