How do you handle finding a hair in your food? Does it wig you out, or do you just remove it and go on about your business?

I usually just remove it and continue on. It is unlikely that it was deliberate. Now roaches on the restaurant premises is a different story.

Well, I have a dog and the occasional, rare dog hair is inevitable...But I know she's clean...remove it and move on...not wasting food... I rarely eat out but wouldn't be happy about finding a hair in it there...Though I would never send food back to a restaurant kitchen as I have no idea what would occur in a replacement meal!... Fortunately, I don't find my hair in foods I prepare...It wouldn't be very appetizing as it's over two feet long...It would be like spaghetti... ...I keep it up when I'm in the kitchen... ~~~ Edited to say...I live alone...I'm not serving 'dog hairy food' to a bunch of people... ...just wanted to clarify that...

A hair in my meal seems to be OK. A bug is not. I've had a few bugs in my salad over the years. That meal will get sent back.

If it's in my own home, no big deal -- take it out. I might lose my appetite if it happened in a restaurant, but don't think I'd send anything back, unless it was like baked into a piece of bread where it can be proved how it got in. I'd take it out and wrap in a napkin and try to go on with the meal.

I never let it bother me, too much, but when I was growing up, my Dad would freak out when he'd find a hair in his food, and we always had cats, so this was not uncommon! However, I don't think anything would ever have made him stop eating. lol

It does bother me to find a hair in my food when out in a restaurant (thankfully it is very rare because most places are strict about hair nets in the kitchen). But still, I remove it and go on about my business. Bugs in food are a "one strike and you're out" offense for a restaurant, though. At home, if there is a hair in the food it's almost certainly mine. At least I know where it's been. Or it could be a cat hair, in which case I still know where it's been, since they are indoor cats.

I keep 2 barettes in a drawer in my kitchen and I pin my hair back when I am cooking. Very occasionally we find a cat hair on a plate (not usually actually in the food) and we just remove it and go on.

Here at home it grosses me out, I remove it, continue eating and eye ball my plate with suspicion! Out at a restaurant? DONE. Gonna show the waitress/waiter and not sending it back, not eating it and no thank you for a replacement.

Gonna show the waitress/waiter and not sending it back, not eating it and no thank you for a replacement. This, exactly. I have very long hair and I do find it all over the house, but in my food is no bueno.

not eating it and no thank you for a replacement. Same here and I am not paying for it either! There is no excuse for that happening. Their employees should be wearing total hair coverings NOT baseball hats.

I don't think this has ever happened to me but at home I'd remove it an eat. Out I probably wouldn't complain but I definitely wouldn't eat the food.
