What is your favorite part of the gardening experience? Planning, planting, nurturing, harvesting, preserving, cooking what you grew or something else?

Yes to all the above and it helps keep me in shape. Edit to add giving away produce.

I love the ground preparation: planning, amending, shaping, and everything architectural. Then the real work begins.

All of the above and then sharing the abundant harvests with others...
I especially like to do heavy work out there...Toting that barge and lifting that bale is invigorating...

I enjoy it all, but my favorite part is seeing the first sprouts.

The garden nurturing part.
After all the hard work of getting everything into the ground, I'm so happy just to poke around in my gardens several times each day. Inspecting, light weeding, watering, re-locating, watching daily progress. The no stress to get it done stuff.

I like all of it! But I think picking and then laying out all of the fresh produce to admire is my favorite part. It's that tangible proof that I did at least some things right...or at least I didn't do too many things terribly wrong. Also eating it, especially snacking on stuff right in the garden.

It is hard to pick a favorite because I do enjoy most of it. I really like the nurturing and watching the plants grow and tending to them but if I had to pick a favorite part I guess that I would say harvesting because I love going out with my basket and picking fresh veggies. I usually decide on my dinner menu after I have gone through the garden and harvested what is ripe. Lots of times I even take a picture of "Today's Harvest" because I just love the combination of colors and shapes. 20170727_171024 by Brownrexx, on Flickr 20170728_144852 by Brownrexx, on Flickr DSC01970 by Brownrexx, on Flickr

Depends on the time? I love planning my garden, picking out the seeds, starting the seeds, watching them grow, readying the garden, planting the garden, watching it grow, harvesting the garden, canning/freezing/putting up the garden and finally on one of those cold blowy winter nights, opening a jar of sunshine . . . homemade jam with a bit of toast.

I enjoy giving life to things more than anything. making the plants happy in the summer, or safely storing the seeds for the next year. whatever phase it is in, I enjoy giving life to my small area of the world.

Yes to everything that everyone has posted!
I love the planning during the long winters that never seem like they will end! I love selecting seeds and sowing them, and watching those first sprouts poke up through the soil. I love getting out in the garden for the first time and cracking through the soil, dreaming of the space being green and lush with vegetation. I love those quiet mornings when I walk through the garden with a cup of coffee, gently pulling out every little weed sprout I can find. I love the first cherry tomato ripe off the vine. Some years I find two, and then those first nibbles go straight to my kids. Of course, I love the harvest, and I also love laying out my produce and taking a few pictures! These days I think I have more pictures of vegetables than of my kids! I always love the preserving and putting up, though I wish that could be spread out a little more. By the end of the season, I'm wiped out and eager for winter's break!
But for me, the absolute most favorite part is pulling a bag out of the freezer or cracking open a jar of something I've grown and preserved.

Probably the planning more than anything else. Not that the rest comes short.

That is a difficult question to start out the day. Think my favorite part of gardening changes as the season progresses. Can not wait to get started working the ground in the spring, and from then on it is enjoyment watching nature take its course. Gives me a big grin when people come to pickup produce they have purchased. Like for them to see how real produce is grown. Like others the whole show is great, would be lost without it.

Gardening is the whole process of seeds to weeds. I love the planning, acquiring seeds, trying new varieties. Best of all is sharing ripe produce with friends/family, my favorite being tomatoes and cucumbers.
I also love being a mentor to the first time gardeners in our community garden, and love it when they listen to my suggestions! One of my friends thought he knew more than me, so he fertilized his marigolds and bush beans. We still laugh at the 3 ft. marigolds! He had already tilled in lots of compost so we knew what to fertilize and what should be left alone for the first month. Wish I had taken pictures of his flowers!!

I like walking in the garden to see what's going on. Whatever 'good' I see is what I like the best.
