When out picking your garden are there certain ones you would rather pick a bunch of at one time... what are they? Hmmm... let's add the ones you would like spread out, picking just a few at a time over the whole garden season?

Certain peppers, like jalapeños, I like to get a lot of at a time, for pickling, but otherwise, whenever they are ready. Now, after getting way too many cukes at once, the first year in an Earthbox, I succession plant cukes, one at a time every 3 weeks, and plant them in a bucket SIP.

I like to pick a lot at one time of veggies that I like to freeze like tomatoes, bell peppers, greens, peas, limas, or corn.
We don't like frozen string beans, sugar peas or squash so I only like to pick small amounts of them for fresh eating. I only plant short rows of string beans and plant new rows every few weeks.
I also succession plant summer squash for 2 reasons. One is to outwit the squash vine borer and the second is to have a smaller supply at one time.

Green beans whatever is ready and cook up the whole mess. Everything else just harvest what is ready. If it is a bunch, figure out what to do with it all, if small amounts, just eat it. Blackberries pick what is ripe and freeze until there is enough for jelly or a dessert of some kind.

I like a lot of corn, tomatoes, green beans and wax beans at once so I can can them. I like a lot of onions and peppers so they can be prepared and frozen. I guess I like a lot all at once all the time lol. What I can't use myself I share with my neighbors or take down to the Mission.

Like most people have said, I like to pick a lot of anything I plan to pickle, can or freeze. For fresh eating, I prefer it to come in more slowly.

Lots of green peas because I love eating them fresh out of the garden.

I'm with Spike, like to get lots so I can can the stuff up and get nice full canner loads. I am learning to can in smaller jars since it's just me, LOL.

I'm with the crowd, preferring to pick a lot or little of what is ripe. I like to get things out of the kitchen and into the freezer or canner quickly.
Tomatoes and peppers are different as I live to pick only a couple a day and savor.
Beets I pick by the 5 gallon bucket load to pickle in pint jars. However, there have been a few times when only the quart jars were available. I usually give most of those away!
