Well, if I had my vision back, I'd go to my favorite fly tying supply store for feathers, bucktail, chenille and such.
Today? Shucks I dunno. I have plenty of gardening stuff. Maybe a fancy fly rod. Mine is a cheap one! Catches fish, so I don't recon I need it.
Shucks I dunno.
Scratch that. I know what I'd do. I'd go buy something nice for both Wife and Mom.
they like stuff too!

Assuming I would need to buy gardening items, I'd hope to be in Lehman's and buying rakes, hoes, shovels, etc. I'd get the highest quality possible for the price.

Last time I did that 'Bonsai by the Monestary' was still open and I loaded up on mica pots. Its been 20 year gone and I am still flying those pots.

Headed to Lowes to buy a new self propelled push mower (cause the one I have is gonna kill me) and with the leftovers, new garden tools.

What an interesting question.
There is nothing that I desperately NEED so I would probably go to Espenshades Greenhouse which is a locally owned greenhouse. I would treat myself to some of their fancy bird feeders and a couple new bluebird houses since mine are getting really old. I would also pick up new garden tools with fiberglass handles, top of the line pruners to replace my cheap ones, organic sprays and pH adjuster for my garden and if there was any money left I would buy some of their beautiful potted hanging plants for outside.
I could definitely spend $500 in this place. They have everything I like.

If I had to spend the money on myself, I would buy a fancy newer smart phone. I have an sturdy older model Moto that I bought new on Ebay for $20, and I buy Tracfone time cards as I need them. I rarely carry it around with me and it does everything I need, but it doesn't have much memory so I am always getting messages that it can't update programs. A better phone would be nice, but I won't buy it with my own money.

Wow, that's a tough one. Probably a new cellphone. Or maybe a new computer desk and chair. Though there are any number of ways I *could* spend $500. Plants, exotic fish for my aquariums, jewelry, etc. (Though my taste in jewelry is way over my budget for jewelry, so I tend not to buy it.) Nice tools for DH for Father's Day would be another good choice, or upgrades for his computer. But knowing him he would really like a new cellphone. Even though he just got one for Christmas. Now, if it were $5,000 - or better yet $25,000 - some serious house remodeling would be on tap.

Today it would be Joann's. A friend and I are launching an online jewelry business soon, and right now we're making our inventory. $500 would set us up quite nicely with the jewelry making supplies we need to set our lines and open for business!

ladymarmalade, When I could see better, I used to dabble with jewelry. What are you into? Fused Glass, Wire, Beading?

ladymarmalade, When I could see better, I used to dabble with jewelry. What are you into? Fused Glass, Wire, Beading? Beading. Though once we have the cash flow going, we intend to expand and also dabble a bit in weaving, and then combining the beads with the woven materials. It's been nice having a distraction while I'm waiting for house details. Otherwise I'd be going crazy not being able to really get going in the garden. This way I am too busy to care that it's gorgeous out and I'm not planting lettuce.

Probably a good driveway edger. Gas or Goat? Electric, that way I don't have to feed it when I'm not using it. Admittedly I can't barbecue an electric edger when it annoys me.

I wasn't ever creative enough to come up with my own designs, but I did enjoy playing around before my eyes went south. I made this one for my Mom by watching a YouTube Video.

ladymarmalade , The above piece is fresh water-pearls. The wife and I experimented with the cheap glass pearls, but their finish left a lot to be desired. Before you invest too much, try a few different suppliers for quality and price because it varies widely. The wife and I used to spend 2 to 3 hundred a month on our hobbies. We don't anymore, but it sure was fun going and picking beads, pearls and stuff. Then I got into fly tying. That's an expensive hobby. Just open wallet and watch money fly out. I don't have any expensive hobbies anymore. :-(

Our bracelets look so much more expensive when we use the really good beads- we're going to a trade show next month to try and find a state-side source for most of our materials. We have a source from China, but it takes a long time to get stuff from them. Once we've launched I might link the store in my siggie. It's a very niche faith-based market and product that we're working on though, so it's not everyone's cup of tea for sure.

We are not planning a Men's Line at this point. We've had a few of those make their way through our home. Seems that when people go to Hawaii they bring back those necklaces for everyone.

First off would take the motor home to town, and fill it with diesel. That would take about $300, guess would save the rest.

hairymoooseknuckles, I presume you are talking that a motor homes a money magnet. I have owned a motor home of one size or another for around thirty years, and you are somewhat correct. If you are going to use it, fuel must bought, ever so often the tires need to be replaced and the oil will need changing. If you buy quality it does cut down on problems. My current motor home is five years old and in that length of time I have replaced the cover over one of the slideouts and this year I did replace the drive belt on the clothes washer. With about 123000 miles don't figure that is too bad. You are really never going to fully come out on the initial investment, but sure beats staying in a motel and eating out all the time. I like sleeping in my own bed. There is no doubt, I would not travel near as much if did not have it.

farmerjack41, We travel quite a bit too. We had to put a lot of work in ours cause it was old. Ours in a 96 Winnebago. Once we got it like we wanted, it wasn't too bad, but 5 to 6 mpg will eat you up if you travel like we did. Me & Wife are getting too old these days and have slowed down a bunch. I'm unable to drive anymore.

Don't drive over 60 very often, when in Az where the speed limit is 75, some times I feel like am going backward. Feel lucky, at age 77, have no problem handling the motor home, in fact would rather drive it than the other vehicles.

I'm going to answer first, then read everyone else's:
I'm purchasing an Apple device (preferably tablet) that will allow me to FaceTime with my niece and nephews. It'll also give me access to two apps that would help with management of my medical condition and are unavailable on Android.
