I know that we shouldn't ask a lady her age but I was just wondering?

daylilydude, the poll is anonymous, right? By anonymous I mean that no one, even you, can see how a person has voted. I mean anyone who's been here a while can probably guess my age within a few years from various things I've posted. (But I'm still not posting the exact number! ) But some people might be more comfortable voting if they have an assurance that their answer is secret.

67 here and thankful I can still garden. Maybe a little slower than when I was young but still able to do everything. Lucky that I don't take any medicine but every now and then an Aleve helps.

Lol, I guess I get to be the spring chicken here at the age of 40! Got married and had my babies when we were still young and stupid. Some days I think I still feel young and stupid!

I'm 68 and happy to be looking down at the grass instead of looking up to see it. I'm surprised I've lived as long as I have. All of my siblings have passed on but my Mother is 96 and I will be spending Mothers Day with her.

I'm in the tail end of the 70-79 bracket and too close to the 80 and older. Main goal now is to get into that bracket.

Do young people not garden? Or are they all at work or on Snapchat? I think it's less that the Young folks don't garden and more that the Young folks don't forum. I'm the youngest on here (so far!) and I took to forums in the pre-Facebook years. I still prefer the format for various reasons. I think a lot of teens and 20-somethin's either prefer Facebook and Reddit or just aren't sufficiently familiar with forums to understand the trade-offs.

I sell from a roadside stand and most of my customers are older than 50 for garden plants. now flowers? usually younger people. Fascinating! Any guesses as to why? My guess... it is work. people spend an enormous amount of time running children to events if they have them... and or.. people aren't interested or don't know how to can any more? It is a lot of work? you are always sweaty and have dirty fingernails? I think there are many reasons but ignorance is one of the biggest. their parents didn't garden and they don't know how or where to start and there are people who scare them out of gardening because growing tomatoes is like rocket science...(eye roll here) My children- I don't know if they will garden when they have their own homes... they see how much I do as a "stay at home" mom while they were younger and now I am a stay at home for the inlaws since they are quite old and don't drive... legally blind one has dementia, I am basically the only child or inlaw to be the one who does it all for them...this past 6 months though I have made my husband do more...and since I could do this, stay home and make some money at the same time this became my job. But I think ignorance is the main reason. and they don't know how much better it tastes.
