Yesterday I found a dead adult squash bug laying on a squash leaf. I was surprised because I’ve never seen a dead adult squash bug on my squash plants. This green spider was close by the corpse. I’ve seen this spider out there a few times in the last weeks. Just a few minutes ago I saw the spider again and it was having dinner. Love this spider.

Squash bugs bad, spiders good. Not enough spiders to take care of the squash bugs that seem to infest my garden. Not so bad this year, but other years have been awful. Best to get rid of the squash bugs early.

That is a pretty spider. I have never seen one like that.

Cool.
In my area, the many lizards do a really good job of eating bugs off of things. When there are too many bugs (cucumber beetles) on squash as happens sometimes, I've taken a small cordless vacuum outside and sucked up every one I could see. Not as natural as lizards or spiders, but very effective.

Gianna, good idea. brownrexx, I've never seen a spider like this before either. It's a beautiful green but I read that it can turn colors to match it's environment. I think it's a green lynx.

Those green lynx spiders are very cool-looking, and I have seen them in my garden a few times. But I see wolf spiders, orb weavers, house spiders, jumping spiders, and others much more often.

" I am also a very avid gardener and I can spend all my free time digging in the mud and beloved plants. I, too, could not get rid of squid bugs for a very long time, but I was less fortunate, I did not have these spiders. I was helped by advice from the site www.letstendthegarden.org/. Thanks to them, my garden is now safe and sound, and I also bought fertilizer there, thanks to which my plants just grow perfectly. A very useful resource!"
