Our average first frost is October 15 and that is usually pretty accurate. I still have dry beans that are flowering profusely so I will probably be harvesting them right at the end of the season.
I hope to harvest tomatoes for a bit longer and I still have bell peppers but everything else is pretty much done except for the short row of green beans that I planted late for a second crop.

The vegetable garden at home has been removed because of the hail, though I still have lots of deadheading to do in the flower garden. The community garden plot got hit too, but with small hail. Some of that garden is starting to come back so I hope to have beans, beets, and carrots. Last year's first freeze was Oct. 5, so I will have a few more weeks of harvest.

Usually sometime in the early part of Nov., about when I plant garlic. But some of those Asian greens are very coold resistant - down to the mid to low 20s.

All that is left currently are peppers and sweet potatoes. The sweet potatoes will be dug at the end of the month and the peppers will last till maybe December. Undecided about beets and turnips for the fall.

My garden was mostly done in by the spring rains. I have mostly sunflowers.

If there isn't a frost around the full moon at the end of the month, might make it well into October. But this year is so different, who knows. Replanted green beans, late, for a trial so would like to see them produce. Plants are in heavy bloom now.

Can't say until it happens. I let most things go until a hard frost takes it down. When we first moved up here, we had frosts in early September some years, but with warmer autumns it has pushed forward a few weeks so more like mid-October. One year it was into November. We are in a micro climate protected by a lake, so until the water temperature itself drops to near freezing, we get some protection from the open water. When I was still employed, I remember many times rushing around well after dark gathering peppers and tomatoes to store in the garage because a sudden chance of frost popped up in the forecast. Couldn't cover everything, and had to leave for work before it was safe to uncover the next day.

About a month, maybe a couple of weeks longer. Production will slow considerably and is not worth the effort, but we still harvest what we can.

I'd like to say a month, but that can vary.

I have something planted year round. Right now it's time to get the broccoli, cauliflower, radish and cabbage seeds in the ground. Next moth is garlic and walking onions and then in late November or early December it's time to plant onion sets. Middle of January is fingerling potato planting time. My favorite gardening time of the year.

I leave everything in in the veggie garden until the bitter end as long as there is production... Killing frosts can happen even as late as into November here anymore...sometimes even later, compared to years ago...
All the certain dead and dying flowers remain even longer to feed the wildlife and to re-seed for next year...
